Why solar bird nets are the key defense line?

In recent years, with the rapid development of the photovoltaic industry, the number of photovoltaic power stations has soared, and the conflicts between birds and power stations have become increasingly prominent. Traditional photovoltaic panels are prone to attracting birds to rest on them. The excrement from these birds is difficult to clean, blocking the sunlight and reducing the power generation capacity. Over time, it is more likely to corrode the components or cause short-circuit risks, seriously affecting the operational income and safety of the power station. In response to these common challenges in the industry, Egret Solar independently developed a professional solar bird net. It is made of PVC and steel, featuring strong weather resistance and resistance to ultraviolet aging. The unique grid structure has been precisely calculated to ensure sufficient structural strength to prevent being breached by birds, while maintaining a high light transmittance to avoid significant shading of the components. The overall design fully considers the adaptability to different power station environments. Whether it is the vast arrays of large-scale ground power stations or the complex layouts of industrial and commercial rooftops, it can flexibly cope with various situations.

So, how does the solar bird net achieve the isolation of foreign objects? The key lies in the "Perfectly seamless fit" installation concept. Before installation, the mesh needs to be cut according to the arrangement size of the solar panels. Currently, the mainstream products on the market are mostly 6-inch and 8-inch wide rolls, with lengths ranging from 100 feet to 150 feet. Users can choose flexibly based on the width of the gap between the panels. During installation, the maintenance personnel will align the edges of the mesh with the frame of the solar panel and use special J-shaped hooks or C-shaped long clips to pass through the mesh holes, and fix them using self-locking washers.

These fasteners are usually installed every 30-50 cm, cutting the mesh into approximately 2m sections for laying out, so that the fixing rods exert downward pressure upwards, and the bottom of the mesh extends outward and naturally bends along the roof, forming a bottom-sealed barrier to prevent birds and rodents from entering. Each section of the mesh overlaps by about 10 cm, and is bound together with stainless steel cable ties; the corners are precisely cut according to the curvature and reinforced with additional mesh. The entire system is resistant to ultraviolet rays, withstands high and low temperatures, and the grid aperture is scientifically designed to minimize the impact on lighting and ventilation.

Choosing solar bird nets represents a shift from "passive cleaning" to "active defense". Without protection, the operation team needs to frequently climb to the top to remove bird nests, dead rats, and fallen leaves. This not only incurs high labor costs but also poses risks of falling from heights. However, after installing the bird prevention nets, these repetitive emergency tasks will be completely eliminated. A single investment can provide stable protection for five years or even longer. Subsequently, only regular inspections of the straps and fixtures are required. From a life-cycle perspective, the bird prevention nets not only avoid power loss caused by foreign objects but also eliminate the risks of fires and equipment damage. The return on investment is far higher than any post-event remedial measures.

If your power station is suffering from bird droppings pollution, nest blockage or foreign object intrusion, Egret Solar can offer solar bird nets customized design and installation guidance. Please contact us to obtain detailed plans and build a reliable protection barrier for your photovoltaic assets.  To obtain an accurate quotation for the solar bird net, you need to provide us with the following key information: Our mesh comes in two widths - 6 inches and 8 inches. The colors are natural and black. The surface is treated with hot-dip galvanizing. The mesh hole diameter can be selected between 0.8 and 1.0 millimeters. Please inform us of the length of the roll you need in meters, and how many hooks are required for each roll (our quotation does not include hooks. Please indicate if hooks are needed). You can send the above information via phone or online chat, along with panoramic photos of the array, close-up photos of the gaps, details of the supports, and on-site photos of the roof edge. Based on this information, we will provide you with a quotation.
