What are the main components of battery energy storage system?
1.Battery System
It’s made up of several standalone battery cells that turn chemical energy into usable electrical energy. These individual cells are grouped into dedicated modules, and when all these modules are integrated together, they form a complete battery pack—the core energy storage unit of the system.
2.Battery Management System (BMS)
The primary role of this system is to safeguard the entire battery setup. It keeps a constant eye on the status of each battery cell, tracks key metrics and conditions like state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH), and acts as a protective barrier to prevent risks such as battery fires and other potential hazards.
3.Inverter
This component takes the direct current (DC) output from the battery and converts it into alternating current (AC), which can then be supplied to power all kinds of electrical devices. For BESS fitted with a bidirectional inverter, the system gains the capability to handle charging and discharging processes at the same time.
4.Energy Management System (EMS)
It’s in charge of overseeing and regulating the flow of energy throughout the entire BESS, and it coordinates the work of the battery management system, power control system, and other components within the solar storage container BESS system. By gathering and analyzing real-time energy data, the EMS can optimize the allocation and usage of the system’s electrical resources in an efficient way.
